Mrs. Carstensen has had the honor of teaching as Shadow Hills Elementary since the school opened.  (Although she was known as Miss Smith back then.) She is a proud graduate of Boise State University and received her Masters in Education from Lesley University.  Mrs. Carstensen loves to teach 5th grade because of the social studies curriculum- American History, but Math is probably her favorite subject.  

Mrs. Carstensen collects dragons and loves to write fiction, swim, and play with her two boys.  During the summer, she and her family make it a practice to visit the Oregon Coast.
